Our involvement in elections as an organisation started in 2017 with the establishment of the International Foundation for Safety and Security in Elections (IFSSE), which was a non-profit, non-partisan, international, non-governmental organisation, dedicated to the monitoring of elections across the globe, protected by European Convention. Formally, in 2020, IFSSE became part of stabilisation.eu, continuing our election operation, now fully under the stabilisation.eu umbrella.

In September 2017, following the publication of the Guidelines for Public Security Providers in Elections by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), IFSSE was launched as an initiative to observe elections across the OSCE region explicitly in the context of the implementation of the Guidelines.
We were the first organisation to develop a comprehensive observation methodology and practice, based on OSCE best practice and guidelines, to monitor full-spectrum security provision through the electoral process, including public security providers, private security, non-state and/or informal security actors.

The IFSSE election programmatic activities were formally launched in 2017, however the professional electoral expertise of the stabilisation.eu team dates back a decade earlier, to 2007. As such, our principal election experts have been heavily involved in election observation and electoral assistance missions across the globe for over two decades.

If you are interested in having our experts take part in your mission or to observe elections in you country, particularly for the monitoring of security and safety around the electoral process, then please contact us directly at elections@stabilisation.eu
